Launched during October 1981's Paris Salon, Ferrari's 512i BB most notably marked the arrival of fuel injection on Ferrari's Flat-12. Replacing the familiar Weber carbs (seen on almost every previous Ferrari model) fuel injection not only improved an engine's flexibility but made it much easier to maintain as well as prolonging the lifetime of the engine. The BBi remained in production for almost three years. A few minor detail changes were made to the bodywork with clear reflectors inserted into the front bumper and supplementary driving lights now exposed in the grille. There were also new wing mirrors. 1007 fuel injected Boxer's were completed of which just 43 were right-hand drive making this the rarest variation of the RHD Boxers. This took entire BB production to just over 2300.This example is presented in the stunning combination of Grigio with Bordeaux Leather, black cloth inserts and black carpets.
This 512BBi was first registered in the UK in August 1984 and was one of the LAST UK supplied Boxers and one of the very last built. This car has been known to DK since 1987 when we supplied and maintained the car to the then owner. We later sold the car in 1989 and saw it again in our workshops for servicing in 1995. More recently the car was subjected to a large service in our workshops including Cambelts, a new clutch and the fitting of uprated AP brakes to the front of the car. The car features factory air conditioning and a sports exhaust system. The car has a detailed history and is surely one of the finest available having covered just 35,000 miles from new.
