The Maserati MC12 was produced for one reason, to allow a racing variant to compete in the FIA GT Championship. The MC12 signaled Maserati's return to racing after an absence of 37 years. The Ferrari Maserati Group's wealth of knowledge and technological excellence was poured into the new car. The road version was produced to homologate the race version and although Maserati designed and built the car on the chassis of the Enzo, the final car is much larger in size, purposeful looking and has a lower drag coefficient. Some say the MC12 is a more refined road car. The only visible shared item from the outside between the Enzo & the MC12 is the windscreen. However, under its skin the engine, running gear and gearbox are identical. The MC12 is longer, wider and taller and has a sharper nose.

The car entered production in 2004 with 30 cars produced (five of which were not for sale). A further 25 were produced in 2005 making a total of 50 cars available for customers, all of which were pre-sold to VIP clients. The road cars were available exclusively in a white and blue livery (harking back to an old Maserati tradition).

This example offered for sale was one of just a handful of cars that originally came to the UK. It has had just one owner from new since its delivery in April 2005 and has covered just 3,800 Miles. The car remains in superb and original condition having been maintained regularly by official Ferrari/Maserati dealers. The car is UK registered and available to view immediately.
