Launched during October 1981's Paris Salon, Ferrari's 512i BB most notably marked the arrival of fuel injection on Ferrari's Flat-12. Replacing the familiar Weber carbs (seen on almost every previous Ferrari model) fuel injection not only improved an engine's flexibility but made it much easier to maintain as well as prolonging the lifetime of the engine. The BBi remained in production for almost three years. A few minor detail changes were made to the bodywork with clear reflectors inserted into the front bumper and supplementary driving lights now exposed in the grille. There were also new wing mirrors. 1007 fuel injected Boxer's were completed of which just 43 were UK Right-Hand drive supplied making this the rarest variation of the RHD Boxers. This took entire BB production to just over 2300.

This BBi offered for sale by DK Engineering was delivered new to South Africa in January 1983. The car remained in South Africa until November 2008 when it was imported to the UK. Having spent 95 percent of its life in Sunny South Africa this car it is believed has never been subjected to salty road driving conditions resulting a totally corrosion free example. In December 2008 the engine was removed from the car and the cambelts were replaced. At this time the engine also had its valve clearances checked and adjusted. The gearbox was in need of a full rebuild and this was carried out at no expense spared. In June 2009 the clutch was also replaced. Just 1,850 miles have been covered since the car received all of this beneficial work. The current indicated mileage is approximately 44,382 Miles. The car is also currently fitted with upgraded AP brakes but can easily be converted back to standard.

The car was sold by DK to its current owner in 2010. The vehicle at that time was finished in Rosso with Tan hide and Black Daytona stripes. However, at the request of the then new owner the interior was retrimmed in full black leather again with Daytona stripes at cost of £8,000. Since 2010 the car has been stored by DK Engineering and used only when the owner is in the UK and generally for approximately 2 weeks in the summer of each year. The car has received an engine out cambelt service during 2013 and is as a result "on the button" and ready to go. Presented in stunning rust free condition the car is ready and reliable in every respect for the next owner to use and enjoy - an opportunity not to be missed!
