The 250 GT PininFarina Coupe marks an important part of Ferrari's history as he car was Ferrari's first pure road car built with commercial goals. After 250 GT Boano/Ellena, Pininfarina Grugliasco plant was expanded and the production of a new coupe could be moved back. The resulting car was introduced at Milan in 1958, and 335 nearly identical examples were built by 1960. Buyers included Prince Bertil of Sweden. The GT Coupe eschewed the fender vents for simple and clean lines and a notchback look with a panoramic rear window. The oval grille was replaced by a more traditional long narrow look with protruding headlights. Telescopic shock absorbers were also fitted instead of the Houdailles found on previous 250s, and disc brakes were added in 1960.

This example, the 180th of a total of 353 was supplied new to Giulio Cerri a resident of Bologna in August 1959 in Grigio Scuro with Tan leather, the car then spent the later part of the 1960's in Sweden owned by Stein Ericson, repainted in the Swedish racing colours of Yellow and Blue and used for Ice Racing.

In 1969 the car was sold to a Lady, Devon W. Dehyle of Rhode Island, USA and repainted red. For the next 18 years the car languished in Simsbury and Smithfield before it was found by the passionate Ferrari enthusiast, author and Harvard Professor Ruggero Santilli. Immediately Dr Santilli set about a total ground-up restoration of the car and also wrote a well published article on the car. Once the restoration was complete Dr Santilli wrote a letter to Ferrari. Amazingly, Enzo himself responded with an autographed portrait and a letter explaining how thrilled he was at Ruggero's passion for the car and duly inviting him for a personal tour of the factory.

Dr Santilli and his wife owned the car for a total of 26 years and in this period the car was maintained without regard for expense and as such the car featured in no less than 20 of the finest and most highly regarded concours events in the USA. More recently the car has returned to Europe. Today the car is presented in Grigio Conchiglia with a contrasting but striking darker Grigio roof. The interior is very fresh and finished in a beautiful shade of Tan, close to the original, with Grey piping. The car is accompanied by a wonderful history file and a huge collection of trophies.
