Jaguar E-Type V12 Series 3 (1974)

The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend, manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. A combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing ensured the car was an instant legend. In period, a Ferrari cost three times more and supplied less horse power which established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The model became a great success for Jaguar; at its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made". The model was made in three distinct versions which are now generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3".

The Series 3 version of the Jaguar E-Type was launched in 1971 and featured an all-new V12 engine. It was a 5.3 litre unit and uprated brakes were also installed to harness some of the extra power that was delivered. The engine was originally developed for the Le Mans series and was equipped with 4 Zenith Carburettors, producing around 270 bhp and resulting in a 0-60mph time of less than 7 seconds. The series 3 model can be easily recognised by the cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, quad-exit exhaust and the characteristic badging.

This Right Hand Drive Series 3 V12 roadster was completed in June 1974 and first supplied to James Windsor and Son Ltd, Mansfield and was purchased by Mr R. Pearce of Nottingham brand new. The car was exported to New Zealand in 1995 and bought by Mr Craig Heatly who sold it to Ian Gordon Watson one year later. He kept the car for a number years and overall the car spent over 20 years in the country before returning to England in 2016. The car comes complete with original factory supplied owner's manual, service book and Black Hard Top.

In 2015, whilst the car was still in New Zealand, the braking system was completely overhauled and received a thorough service. The car has remarkably covered less than 20,000 miles to date and is presented in excellent condition throughout, having been very well cared for by its previous owners. The original service booklet is also present, along with a comprehensive history file containing MOTs and letters dating well back into the 1970s.
