The 993 RS like all RS models featured a significant change from the Carrera and Carrera S models and was the street version of the 993 Cup car. The RS utilised an enlarged 3.8 Litre motor which in the RS produced an impressive 300 BHP. The 993 RS was the first Porsche to have a variable intake manifold system called Varioram. At low rpm the longer induction tract is good for the torque and at 5100 rpm the vacuum-operated sliding sleeves in the induction manifold shorten the intake-runner length for better high rpm output. The Varioram was added in order to make the car more enjoyable for everyday driving, so the driver wouldn't have to keep revs up all the time. The bodywork featured a weight saving aluminium front bonnet, and the drive train featured a limited-slip differential with 40% locking value under load and 65% under deceleration. The shock absorbers are fully adjustable, as is the suspension ride height.
The exterior of the RS was easily distinguishable by a special non-retractable rear wing, small front flaps and 3-piece 18-inch Aluminium split rims. The headlight washers were deleted for weight saving reasons as were the rear seats. Additionally Recaro Pole Position bucket seats replaced the standard and spartan door cards were installed. Sound proofing was also reduced to a minimum. Electric windows, Radio, Air Conditioning and airbags were all optional to each car and so it is important that today an RS has the correct spec.
This stunning White 993 RS is presented in the ultimate and (original to this car) specification with factory AeroKit (as per the Clubsport), Recaro Sports Seats, Air Conditioning, electric windows and front airbags. Supplied to its first and only Japanese owner in 1996, the car was used sparingly in Japan and was very well maintained with regular servicing. It is believed that the meticulous owner used the car almost exclusively in Tokyo and certainly avoided where possible any wet weather conditions and the car has covered 62,500kms from new. In 2013 the car was purchased by a prominent German collector of air cooled Porsches on the basis of this example's extreme originality and exceptional condition. The car was rigorously inspected in Germany and then treated to a major service and further inspection by Porsche Gottingen in Germany. Whilst in the care of this meticulous collector every step was made to make the car what he personally regarded as "the best 993 RS in Europe". DK Engineering encountered this exceptional Porsche in 2014 and negotiated the purchase of the car from Germany on behalf of our own client. Since then the car has been UK registered and stored in DK's own state of the art facility.
The car today is presented in spectacular condition, this sensational 993 RS retains not only all of its original panels but underneath this exceptional RS retains the ink delivery stampings from the factory and even the "RS" stickers on the brake calipers showing that they have not only never been replaced but also never been painted. This exceptional 993 RS is offered with its comprehensive history file, original spare key and books including service book. It has recently benefitted from a comprehensive detail to maintain its exceptional condition.
