The Gallardo project began back in 1998 when Audi took control of the Italian manufacturer and started with a clean sheet of paper. Thanks to the German marque's financial and technological might, the new model was a superbly engineered machine that performance-wise trounced Ferrari's 360 Modena. The Gallardo's features an aluminium spaceframe fitted with double wishbone suspension and coil springs, anti-roll bars and adaptive Koni dampers. Mighty eight-piston Brembo brake calipers at the front and four pots at the rear help stop the beast with great effect! The permanent four-wheel drive system has a viscous coupling that normally splits power 30/70 front/rear although distribution is varied according to conditions. The 5 litre all-alloy four cam engine produces 493bhp at 7800rpm - nearly 100bhp more than Ferrari's 360 – this equates to 345bhp per ton. The engine is coupled to a six-speed gearbox mounted behind the engine. With 0-60 requiring just 4.3 seconds and a 192mph top speed, the Gallardo comes in comfortably ahead of its Ferrari rival. Launched at the Geneva Salon in March 2003 production continued until mid 2008 when it was replaced by the LP560-4.
This excellent example of the model was first registered in January 2004. Presented in Caelum Blue with Blue leather and silver callipers this is the much more desirable manual variety. The car has been regularly maintained by Lamborghini and has full service history including an annual service having been just carried out at DK in January 2010. The car has a very high specification including the following optional extras: Factory Sat Nav with screen, upgrade stereo, xenons, headlamp washers, electric seats and a sports exhaust. The full tool kit and books accompany the car. The car has had 2 previous owners, covered an indicated 26,000 miles from new and is available to view immediately and ready to enjoy.
