The Jaguar E-Type is a British automobile legend, manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. A combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing ensured the car was an instant legend. In period, a Ferrari cost three times more and supplied less horse power which established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The model became a great success for Jaguar; at its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made".

The model was made in three distinct versions which are now generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3". A transitional series between Series 1 and Series 2 is known, unofficially, as "Series 1½". The Series 1 4.2 Litre roadster is often thought of as the most desirable specification E type striking the perfect balance between the early and pure looks of the first cars with the benefit of additional torque and power from the enlarged motor.

This car is a factory RHD variant that was supplied in June 1967 to Henleys of Manchester in the UK. It was originally presented in Beige with red interior and registered with the number plate that it retains to this day, "HVM 725F". The history of the car is well documented and it was purchased by Mr May in 1974. Mr May would keep the car for over 30 years and during his time love and cherish this beautiful example of an E type. A full restoration was undertaken by Mr May during his ownership and in 2003 he finally parted company with the car after nearly 30 years of ownership. The car passed on to a Mr Paul Teta who later emmigrated to the USA and took "HVM" with him.

Fast forward to 2013 and a client of DK Engineering requested that we source an original RHD 4.2L E type in order that we could carry out some suitable upgrades to the same specification as David Cottingham's own E type that he uses for tours and rallies. We were lucky enough to locate this car in the USA and it was following a satisfactory inspection that it was repatriated to the UK.

Following its arrival a full strip down of the car was commenced. The car was taken back to a bare shell and then following any necessary repairs repainted in the black colour we see it presented in today. Whilst removed, the engine was upgraded with DK "development" cams, an uprated head gasket was fitted and a big bore exhaust to suit. All the suspension was stripped, replated, rebushed and rebuilt and of course brakes were suitably upgraded along with shock absorbers. Whilst all of this work was being carried out naturally extensive service work was carried out to the remaining parts including the wiring loom which received a full check and repair as necessary. Finally the roof was renewed by a noted Jaguar trim specialist.

All of the work was totally documented pictorially and the bills on file document £40,000 worth of work that was carried out. Since that time the car has covered just over 1,500 Miles and has been very much enjoyed by the owner. The car represents a superb opportunity to acquire a most capable and suitably upgraded factory RHD 4.2L Roadster E.
