FISCAR - Adrian's Tenacious Victory in the Wet

Saturday 12th August saw the annual Fifties Sports Car Racing Club (FISCAR) Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone.

Adrian King has worked with David Cottingham at DK Engineering for 27 years and frequently co-drives the AC Ace with David.

David has competed at this meeting on and off since 1965, and last year the pair of drivers came 2nd overall in the race. This year, Adrian drove the car single-handedly.

Qualifying 6th, Adrian took his place in row 3 of the grid. All set for a dry race, as Adrian waited patiently in the assembly area, the heavens opened. Making a solid start, David was surprised to see the Ace up to third at the end of the first lap going into Copse.

Adrian was in the lead by the end of the second lap! For the remainder of the race, the Ace ran as though on rails at 2-3 seconds a lap faster than its pursuers. The final result saw Adrian standing atop the podium, having won the race by 1min 20 seconds.

A fabulous result for Adrian and the team to be justifiably proud.
