Strong Results for DK Engineering at the Donington Historic Festival

After the success of last year's inaugural Donington Historic Festival, the organisers of the event decided to bring a similar event to the circuit for 2012. Once gain strong grids in every category were to be found, with a total of more than 300 cars taking to the track over the two day event. 10 races were held over the weekend with qualifying runs on both Saturday and Sunday. The list of eligible cars was truly eclectic with Group C cars and pre-war sports cars sharing the diverse paddock. It certainly seemed as if Donington had improved on last year's 12,000 strong crowd which bodes well for the long term future of the event which certainly seems to have found its own place in the historic motor racing calendar.

DK Engineering were represented by David Cottingham and Simon Diffey in David's 1937 BMW 328 in the "Mad Jack"

Pre-war race. The pairing fared very well finishing a strong second in class after a hectic 45 minutes of racing on Saturday. Whilst on Sunday, James and Jeremy Cottingham fought their way through the field in the allocated hour from a grid position of 6th to a final race position of 2nd and in doing so hanging on to the coat-tails of Jackie Oliver and Gary Pearson in the yellow 250 SWB. Needless to say they took the class honours and second overall, an incredibly strong finish for their early "flat floor" Jaguar 3.8"E"' on its debut outing.
