Ex Francorchamps "3 Louvre" Tour De France.

The sympathetic restoration of DK's Tour de France is now nearing completion. The "3 louvre" car was purchased in November of 2011 and arrived shortly afterwards. Given the recent trend toward "preservation" type restorations the decision was made to set about a sympathetic restoration which aimed to retain as much as possible of the car's stunning originality and outstanding patina. This car, chassis 0763 GT, was originally owned and raced by the Ecurie Francorchamps racer, Leon "Elde" Dernier and as a result "0763 GT" has some significant race history, which will be preserved by the sympathetic nature of the restoration.

The axle and gearbox have now been fully rebuilt and reunited with the car as have the brakes and suspension. The matching numbers V12 engine has been stripped and fully rebuilt in the specialist engine shop at Little Green Street Farm. The body has had some minor paintwork undertaken. The car was completed in time for the annual Goodwood Press Day, which served as an excellent first public outing for this wonderful motorcar. A few days later the car was in prime position in DK's new specialist restoration shop on our Open Day, which was followed by a trip to Millbrook Proving ground for a film shoot. The DKTV and Financial Times videos will soon go live on their respective web pages.
