Porsche Carrera 2.7 RS Touring, original factory M472 specification.The reference ''RS'' will quicken the pulse of Porsche connoisseurs. Models such as the legendary Carrera RS 2.7 of 1972, the 1991 964 911 RS, the 2004 996 GT3 RS and the 2007 997 GT3 RS are all normally aspirated sports cars that stand out on account of their extreme degree of maneuverability and handling.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS is the original RS Porsche; a lightweight car that was designed by Porsche to be as light and fast as possible, weighing in at only 975kg. 2.7 RS's have an impressive top speed of 150mph and performance figures of 0-65mph in just 5.8 seconds.
The example offered here by DK is presented in original light yellow with black script. The car is in its original unmolested specification with the following options; non-sunroof, black leatherette/corduroy, heated rear window (102), LSD (220), Passenger mirror (261), Recaro sports seats (409) and electric windows (651).
It was in 1972 when John Fitzpatrick met the Kremer brothers, that they asked him to drive for them. Up until the early 1970's John had driven Mini Coopers, next thing he knew he had won the first of the European GT races and driven at Le Mans! In June of 1973, this Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, Chassis 911 360 1486, was delivered to John Fitzpatrick in Spain but as per English specification.
The car later passed into the owner ship of a dentist, Gregory Bell of Pangbourne Berkshire in 1978. In turn the car was sold to Mrs Carol Georgina Messett in 1983 who owned the car for 24 years. Fast forward to 2007 when the car was purchased by a Porsche collector and racing enthusiast who specifically tracked down this vehicle because of its Fitzpatrick heritage.
The speedometer currently indicates a believed correct 89,000 miles from new. The body underwent a restoration in 2007 when all original body panels were repainted but remained. The interior also remains completely original with only the head rests being recovered. The engine was refreshed with the gearbox at 75,000 miles by Paul Edwards. The overall condition and provenance of this vehicle is without doubt exceptional.
