The Ferrari 275 was first unveiled at the Paris motor show of 1964 and was hailed as the successor to the legendary Ferrari 250 GT. The car had excellent balance, poise and weight distribution thanks to independent rear suspension and a rear-mounted 5-speed transaxle. In addition, the engine was shifted backwards in order to bring as much weight as possible towards the centre of the car. Ferrari eventually released a redesigned nose for the model, which was longer and aimed to enhance the aerodynamic abilities of the car at high speed, arguably at the expense of design. Therefore, only 239 Short Nose examples were produced and their rarity and undoubted stunning looks have made these cars highly collectible and they are now considered the prized assets of many collections. The original design of the short nose is often regarded as the pure and as designed form.

As the comprehensive Marcel Massini report shows, this example, chassis #07045, was completed at the factory in April 1965 ahead of transport to Switzerland, where it arrived and was delivered a month later to its first owner, Mr Bacic of Lausanne. The car was optioned new in Rosso 19374 (a darker than normal red) over Nero. The car was used extensively in its first six months, showing 21,000km by mid-November. In February 1966, Mr Bacic would trade the car back into the supplying dealer and take delivery of a new example.

In 1969 the car was exported to Los Angeles, finding a home with the none other than Robert E Petersen the founder of the Petersen Museum and without doubt one of the one of the leading collectors of all time. The car was modified a little by its next owner (Mr Mazer) who repainted it traditional Rosso, removed the bumpers and had it running a 6 carb setup on the engine it retains to this day, #07227.

Despite listing the car for sale at the time, Mr Mazer would in fact retain the car until 1989, with it seeing regular use. The car was listed for sale with Fantasy Junction from September 1989 until it was sold and exported to France in 1990 to Paris whilst in the ownership of Mr Duriue. In 1995, the car was for sale with Modena Motorsport GmbH of Langerfeld, Germany, now finished in Giallo Fly over Nero and was subsequently purchased a short time after by Mr & Mrs Fink.

The Finks kept the car for 19 years, using the car occasionally at Modena Motorsport trackways and taking part in many rallies such as the Ferrari Factory 275 tour from Maranello to Venice. The car saw regular service and meticulous maintenance through Modena Motorsport throughout the Fink ownership. They would continue to use the car on a number of tours in Europe until it was sold to its current UK based owner in 2014.

Most recently the car has received a bare metal body restoration to Rosso Rubino as well as a full retrim to Biscuit. The car arrived with DK, fresh from paint, and our team immediately saw to a thorough mechanical overhaul including a total engine rebuild, suspension overhaul, brake overhaul, steering box overhaul and many other restoration items, completing the car in late 2018. The motor is back to correct 3 Carb configuration and affording this example Ferrari Red Book Classiche Certification.

This delightful 60s style icon is ready to be used and enjoyed, owing to its 1965 delivery date the car would make a perfect candidate for events such as the Tour Auto or Modena Centro Ore. Available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately this stunning 275 is an opportunity not to be missed.

The valuable 6-Carb Set up which had been fitted to the car prior to rebuild accompanies the sale.
