The Ruf Rt 12 was introduced to the public at the 2004 at the Essen Motor Show being built on Porsche's new 997 platform. The twin-turbocharged, engine was available in three configurations providing 530 bhp, 560 bhp or 650 bhp. In ultimate form the Rt 12 sits amongst some of the fastest production cars in the world, with a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds and top speed of 219 mph. This phenomenal performance gives the Rt12 superior straight-line performance over the Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT and Mercedes-McLaren SLR. There is a taller gearing option which is reported to boost the car's top speed to in excess of 227 mph! The Ruf Rt 12 is literally barking mad!
Every Rt 12 has been manufactured to customer specification with a variety of major choices such as rear or all wheel drive, suspension systems, interior specifications and even engines. Target customers are without doubt those demanding a brilliantly disguised yet versatile weapon. This weapon has more performance and more hardcore handling than a Porsche 911 Turbo or GT2, supercar performance and packaging that disguises the weapon as a modest car that can quite easily be used on a day to day basis. The Rt 12 features specially developed Ruf bodywork, giving the vehicle a unique appearance while functioning to increase downforce, improving high speed stability. Large cross-drilled brakes are included, the choice of Alois Ruf Jr, the company's owner, as he is doubtful of the lifetime of the PCCB system. In addition, Ruf chose to replace the factory "active" suspension system with a static system of their own design.
Just thirteen Rt12's were made, eleven of these being all wheel drive. This AWD example was first registered in October 2007 and has been enjoyed by the same owner since having covered just 8,000 miles from new. This Rt 12 is presented in stunning Matt yet pearlescent silver with black leather comfort seats, black carpets and dark grey alcantara headlining. The car is presented in stunning condition and has recently returned from the Ruf factory meaning it is in rude health. Currently German registered the car is in the UK and available to view immediately.
