The Lamborghini Countach which first entered production in 1974 is undoubtedly a design icon and a trailblazer for the design of almost every supercar to follow. Its design both pioneered and popularized the wedge-shaped, sharply angled look popular in many high performance sports cars. The "cabin-forward" design concept, which pushes the passenger compartment forward in order to accommodate a larger engine, was also popularized by the Countach.

For the QV 5000, the penultimate and most popular iteration of the Countach legend, the engine was bored and stroked to 5.2 litres (5,167 cc) and given four valves per cylinder (quattrovalvole in Italian). The carburettors were moved from the sides to the top of the engine for better breathing — creating a "power bulge" on the engine cover. These engine changes meant that the car produced over 450BHP enough to propel the car from a standstill to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and on to 100mph in 10. The car's top speed is 195 MPH.

Many refer to this iteration of the Countach as the ultimate version - it's certainly amongst the rarest with only 14 cars completed in RHD this example being the only car supplied in stunning Accopulco Blue. With its 455 BHP and jaw dropping looks the car still excites the little boy inside us!

At the launch of "88.5" Countach the first road test was carried out by Brian Laban of Performance Car magazine in a special edition of the magazine which appeared on the shelves in February 1988. The car tested in that article is the example offered for sale here. In the article Laban concluded the article with the following lines: "Perhaps the one thing that really impresses above all about the Countach, though, is knowing that here is a car which has everything you could ever ask it for, the looks, the power, the poise and the raw competence to push you to your own limits and come back for more... It must still rank as one of the greatest of all motoring experiences, I'll take it."

This car has covered a mere 23,000 miles from new and has received a major and thorough overhaul during the last two years totalling approximately £18,000. The clutch has also just been replaced as a precaution. This means not only is the car is superb cosmetic condition but also in an "on the button" and ready to use state. Presented with an extensive history file which includes a copy of the aforementioned issue of "Performance Car Magazine" this Countach is without doubt one of the finest examples available anywhere.

We supplied the car to its current owner and are delighted to once again offer this excpetional Countach for sale, the car benefits from another very large service and is totally ready to be used and enjoyed.

[Please note the first owner later had a rear wing added which we have with the car, it is therefore available with or without.]
