Despite the BMW Z8 being based on the BMW Z07 Concept that was revealed at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show, the Z8's flowing design owes all influence to BMW's milestone model, the 507. Features taken from one of the most important design icons of the 1950s can be recognised all round with the twin-kidney grille and long sweeping bonnet.
Sharing its power-train with the E39 M5, the Z8 is equipped with a high revving a 4.9-litre V8 regarded as one of BMW's finest. Producing a staggering 400 bhp at 6600 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 3800 rpm, the Z8 can accelerate from 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds ultimately reaching 170 mph without BMW's 155mph electronic limit.
The Z8 also proved to be a breakthrough concept for the BMW brand, through its all aluminium chassis construction resulting in a significant weight loss and serving to its blistering performance, still imposing on today's standards.
This Z8 was first delivered in February, 2001 specified in Stratus Metallic over a Cream Hide interior, of which just 46 were similarly specified. Options applied from new include a main battery switch, speedometer in Kilometres, Daytime driving lights and six disc CD changer.
Its most recent custodian added the car to their collection of Concours condition modern classics in 2016. It was subsequently imported into the UK and placed under the care of DK Engineering. Since then it has remained in DK's state of the art storage facility with full UK registration having been granted in March 2017.
Having covered just 25,450 Miles from new, this Z8 presents in superb condition supporting how well this car has been cared for from new. Accompanied by its full book pack, original spare key and exceptionally rare factory hard top roof, this Z8 is UK registered and is located in our showrooms just outside London and available to view immediately.
