The 328 GTS model, together with the fixed roof 328 GTB, were the final developments of the normally aspirated transverse V8 engine 2-seat series. The 328 figures in the model title referred to the total cubic capacity of the engine, 3.2 litres, and 8 for the number of cylinders. The new model was introduced at the 1985 Frankfurt Salon alongside the Mondial 3.2 series.
Essentially the new model was a revised and updated version of the 308, albeit with various changes to the 3-litre engine. Stylistically the 328 model stayed very true to its predecessor's iconic 70's silhouette. The most notable change being a small roof spoiler just aft of the driver. Subtle changes were also made to soften the wedge profile such as moulded bumpers and a more petite front grill. In conjunction with the 328's exterior the car's interior benefitted from more supportive seats and an overall superior build quality throughout.
This stunning 328 GTS was supplied new via HR Owen to its first private owner on the 1st April 1988. Copies of the original order placed by HR Owen which accompany the cars history file state the following desirable combination of Blue Chiaro (503C) over a Crema (3997) Hide interior with optional extras of a Blue (3283) dashboard and headlining, Blue (168) carpets and air conditioning. During its stress free life it has been cared for with no expense spared by each owner and has been serviced fastidiously by both main dealers and well respected specialists until present. The accompanying history file includes servicing invoices dating back to 1990 as well as the original warranty book with a barrage of service stamps dating back to 1988.
Its last owner purchased the car in October 2007 with under 11,000 Miles showing on the odometer. It has since covered a further 2,600 Miles only ever in dry weather and when not being used has been stored inside. During the last year it has been stored in our state of the art storage facility and in October 2017 received a most comprehensive service here at DK.
Today it has covered just 13,400 Miles from new and is presented in concours condition. Accompanied by its original books and comprehensive history file and almost every MOT dating back to its first. This sale represents a rare opportunity to acquire what is one of the finest examples currently on the market, in a most desirable colour combination and with a most excellent service record.
