Porsche 911 (991.2) Turbo S (2017)

The 991 Carrera was launched to great praise at the 2011 Frankfurt Motorshow, the 991 was a technological leap forward from the already exceptional 997 generation of 911 models. The 991 was an entirely new platform, only the third since the original 911 launched in 1963 (the 996 of 1999 was the second new platform). Compared to the outgoing 997, the 991 is slightly larger, with the wheelbase increased by 100 mm, but more importantly a new transaxle was developed so that the rear wheels could be moved 76 millimetres backward in relation to the position of the engine, which significantly improves the weight distribution and cornering performance. Due to the use of high-strength steels, aluminium and some composites the weight has been reduced. The fantastic PDK Gearbox was yet further improved for the 991 and thanks to a longer ratio 7th Gear and the introduction of Stop/Start Technology the 991 is more economical than any 997.

The facelifted 991.2 generation cars improved the Turbo as one step closer to the perfectly polished everyday supercar. The twin-turbocharged flat-six from the 991.1 remains but with a number of modifications, freeing up an extra 20bhp. For the first time in history, the range-topping ‘S’ uses larger turbocharger.

This Jet Black example was delivered new to its first keeper in September 2017, passing to its second a month later who has retained the car to date.
