Ferrari 488 Pista (2020)

Ferrari started the ultimate evolution of their mid-engined V8 sports cars with the 348 GT Competizione in 1993. Ten years later, the launch of 360 Challenge Stradale in 2003 spurned a more regular line of successors. Pared back, lighter and more powerful, the special iterated through the 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale. The launch of 488 Pista marks a monstrous leap in performance. Aspiration change means the now smaller-displacement V8 benefits from two turbochargers. Whilst the Speciale made a not-to-be-sniffed- at 597bhp, the turbocharged Pista finds itself with a warp speed-enabling 710bhp.

Aerodynamic revisions and extensive weight loss sees the car some 90kg down over the standard 488 GTB, whilst downforce is up 20% with no drag penalty. The 3.9 litre V8 gains an Inconel exhaust manifold, lightened flywheel, titanium conrods, lightweight cylinder liners, new valves and valve springs. 18kg of this weight loss alone comes from changes to the engine. Fantastically for a turbocharged engine, peak power is made between 6,750rpm and the 8,000rpm limiter. 568lbft of torque is electronically governed depending on gear choice, providing a more linear delivery.

This UK supplied car was delivered to its sole custodian to join a collection of the aforementioned V8 specials. Presented today in keeping with the collection, this car has covered just 15 miles from new and has not been driven by the owner. Still with the protective seat and steering wheel covers when it arrived with us, the car is immaculate. Finished in Rosso Corsa with a two-tone stripe in Argento Nurburgring and Blu America, the interior is tastefully optioned in Nero with lighter Charcoal Alcantara inserts.

A wealth of special options have been tastefully added to this car to help it stand out from the crowd. The Carbon Fibre racing seats feature the Italian stripe, a theme echoed on the special request central tunnel buttons. Both the steering wheel and Carbon Fibre shift paddles receive Ferrari Dreamlines in Rosso Corsa to match the bodywork. The interior has received further details in Rosso leather, the seats benefitting from special order Rosso piping.

From a technological standpoint, this example receives a wealth of options. Radio & Satellite Navigation, Bluetooth, Rear parking camera and of course, front axle lifting system. The Adaptive Front-lighting system is fitted and the central rev counter is finished in Bianco. Further options include the upgraded Titanium Exhaust system, Scuderia shields, Rosso Corsa Brake calipers, Racing Seat Lifter, Electrochromic mirrors, Alcantara floor mats and embroidered Cavallinos in the headrests, both in Rosso.
