Bentley Continental GT (2008)

The Continental GT has become the most successful model in Bentley's history, it was the first new car Bentley produced under the ownership of Volkswagen, and it marked the beginning of a new era for the cars from Crewe. It was introduced to the public at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show and subsequently shown at exclusive events, such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, later that year. The Continental GT was intended to lure new customers to the brand, as it carried all the pomp and circumstance of the company's more traditional offerings but at a slightly lower price point. The car attracted lots of attention when it was first shown and even more attention in Bentley showrooms around the globe in the following months. Customers quickly added themselves to the car's waiting list in anticipation. It was an enormous financial success for the new company, and it proved to be an excellent platform to bring Bentley into the 21st century, as it attracted new customers for the marque whilst simultaneously pleasing the more old-fashioned "Bentley boys".

For 2008 the Continental GT was given a host of updates which importantly included subtle styling changes such as a more upright front grille and larger lower air intakes give improved airflow to aid engine cooling; chromed headlamp bezels and importantly two new colours: Cumbrian Green and Granite Grey in which the car was painted. Additionally the 2008 cars benefitted from a 35kg weight reduction, increased use of aluminium parts, revised steering and a new "Sport Traction" mode. The result was arguably the most exciting Bentley in a generation, taking the marque close to its racing roots while also retaining the cosseting comfort levels of later models. It revitalized the Bentley name around the world, and as such, it has taken its place among the company's long roster of legends.

This 2008 "Mulliner Driving Specification" example is presented in Granite Grey over a Beluga Black Diamond quilted hide. This example was purchased by a director of DK Engineering in 2015 and since been used sparingly in their care, presenting today with just 32,800 miles.
