Launching their first car in 1999, the Zonda arrived seemingly out of nowhere, ready and eager to rival the very best on offer at the time. Founded by ex-Lamborghini engineer Horatio Pagani, the world would see the best of Italian design flair, advanced use of carbon-composite materials and a reliable V12 powertrain sourced from Mercedes Benz.

Following on from the Zonda would always be a tall order. Horacio instead chose to start fresh, retaining the ethos and flair and the AMG-sourced V12, but adding two turbochargers, vaulting the power and torque up to 730bhp and 1,000NM of torque.

A recipe in automotive theatre, opening the gullwing door reveals nothing short of a feast for the eyes and senses. The open gear linkage running through the centre of the cabin, the meticulous carbon fibre details from the driver's binnacle to each of the air vents.

The Huayra was launched in early 2011 and production of the 100 units kept the team busy until 2018. After the coupe, a short production run of 20 BC coupes were completed. The track-focused BC took its name from he initials of Horatio’s first customer and great friend Benny Caiola. Power went up and weight down, with thorough engineering revisions seeing titanium introduced into the carbon fibre weave for increased torsional strength.

Introduced in July of 2019, the Huayra Roadster BC was intended to be the Huayra's swansong and elevate the game once more, above that of even the BC Coupe. New aero? Check. New engine? Check. New exhaust? Check. New suspension? Check. New carbon? Check.

The engine is completely new and power is elevated once more to 791bhp, with torque capped at 737lbft for the safety of the 7-speed automated single-clutch Xtrac gearbox. The exhaust sees four tips in the usual place, with two additional outlets integrated in the rear diffuser - these weren't seen on the Coupe. The suspension introduces electronically controlled shock absorbers and the carbon fibre used for the tub is an evolution of Pagani’s carbon fibre and titanium woven, Carbontanium. Their latest, strongest and lightest chassis for the Huayra to date.

This example was first registered in November 2022 and has been retained to date by the first keeper. The theme for this example is clear, but still particular care has been taken to ensure each and every surface has a balance of paint, carbon fibre and exposed silverware. This Roadster BC recieved a two tone livery in gloss carbon fibre and Nero Blackstar. Exterior anodisation, wheels and brake calipers are finished in gloss black, with the door inserts, front spoiler, rear diffuser, mirrors and wing finished in gloss carbon fibre.

The interior sees swathes of perforated Alcantara in Nero and Nero leather bolsters, with a subtle perforated Italian stripe at the base of the seat. Opening the doors of the clams, fore or aft, and the carbon fibre recieves a matte clear coat. Interior anodisation of parts is further finished in satin black. The central gear selector is made from Carbo-wood, a blend of Horatio's favourite composite, and inspired by the gearknob of his favourite car, the Porsche 917.

Available today with just 700 miles, this Huayra Roadster BC is UK registered and accompanied by its carbon fibre roof panel and stand, fabric roof panel, roof mounted wind deflectors, toolkit, roof bags, spare key and dedicated history folio.
