The Ferrari Testarossa was first unveiled at the 1984 Paris Auto Show, quickly becoming the poster car of a generation. The design that would rival the Lamborghini Countach was a drastic change from the 512 BB that the car derived from.

Not only did Ferrari sway from the smooth lines seen on its prior, they also radically changed the engine from what was formally seen in the BB. It had four-valves per cylinder, Marelli electronic ignition, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, and capable of producing 390 bhp from the 4943 cc horizontally opposed 12 cylinders. All versions of the Testarossa were rear wheel drive and had a rear-mounted, five-speed manual transmission.

Following on from its extensive and prominent featuring in the TV series Miami Vice, the Testarossa became a cultural icon. Synonymous with power and performance, the Testarossa was one of the first poster cars and its resurgence in popularity today is no doubt spurred on by its stardom in the late 1980s.

This Testarossa is offered for sale, fresh from a comprehensive mechanical overhaul in our workshops. Owned exclusively by two close friends, this Testarossa has been in the car of its current keeper for 35 years, having been purchased when it was a mere fifteen months old. To date, this example has covered just 9,700 miles from new.

This example was supplied new by Graypaul Ferrari to its first keeper through Maranello Concessionaires to its dealership in Loughborough. This Testarossa, order number 235, was optioned in Rosso Fer 300/9 with Crema 3997 hide with its dashboard, centre console and armrests in Nero 8500 with carpets in Rosso.

Its first custodian would take delivery on February 9th 1989, and as delivered, was double the price of a brand new 328 GTB. A serial Ferrari buyer at the time, he would retain the car for just 14 months before trading up to a 512 TR, and shortly thereafter, an F40 in 1992. The second and current custodian purchased this example in 1990 with just over 5,200 miles. In the 35 years since, this Testarossa has covered just 4,400 miles, remaining off the road and in storage for the vast majority of that time due to a posting overseas.

Extracted from storage in September of 2024, this example has since been treated to a thorough mechanical overhaul in our workshops ensuring the car today presents on superb working order. In addition to a major service, works were carried to include the replacement of fuel pumps, filters and lines, perished gaskets, and hoses. Furthermore, the shock absorbers and radiator were removed and overhauled.

With the mechanical works totalling just shy of £45,000 with a wealth of invoices on file documenting the works, this wonderful Testarossa is available to view at our showrooms outside London immediately, accompanied by its history folio and book pack.
