Competition was fierce in 2003 with Ferrari launching the Enzo and Porsche the mid Engineered Carrera GT. However the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, with its Awe-Inspiring supercharged 5.5 litre Engine, put the emphasis back in the driving seat. Mclaren's input is obvious in the car's handling characteristics and most notably the braking, when launched the SLR's brakes were by far the most advanced available on any road car, internally ventilated carbon-fibre ceramic discs with 6-piston aluminium fixed-callipers.
