The 458 Spider was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show was Ferrari’s convertible take on the 458 Italia. Since the release of the 458 platform, it has been praised by journalists. Its naturally aspirated V8 engine stole the hearts of automotive journalists and petrol heads alike. The car offered a well-needed and generational leap in performance in comparison to the 430 Spider.
The 458 Spider was the first Ferrari to have a retractable hardtop. The engine cover was redesigned to accommodate the retractable roof system which was designed to be as light as physically possible. Remarkably, the Spider has the same 0 – 60 mph time as the hard-top and a top speed of 199 mph.
Notably, it was the first Ferrari to have direct fuel injection and feature a retractable aluminium hardtop, shedding 25 kilograms compared to the soft top found on its predecessor, the 430 Spider and can be opened in just 14 seconds.
This car’s name speaks for itself, as it’s powered by a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 engine. With a generous output of 562bhp, it revs up to 9,000 rpm and delivers 348 lb-ft of torque at 6,000rpm. Driving the rear wheels, it rocks from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph.
This Ferrari 458 Spider is an Atelier example; featuring an extensive options list that surpasses the majority of 458 Spiders. As such, it is exceptionally well specified, benefiting from the following factory-fitted options:
