Starting the Event Season Strong with a Win at Cavallino Classic

Recently, the DK Engineering team had the pleasure of showcasing two show stopping examples of the Ferrari F40 and F50 at exclusive and private Mar-a-Lago Club for the 2023 edition of Cavallino Classic at Palm Beach, Florida.

With 125 Ferraris competing, including three extraordinary previous Best of Show winners, and a spectacular class celebrating the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans: these were the main ingredients that made the 32nd Palm Beach Cavallino Classic unforgettable.

Also shining a light on the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary celebration was an impressive gathering of ‘Great Ferraris at Le Mans’, including the 1949 Ferrari 166 MM #0008M that DK Engineering have the pleasure of looking after for the last 4 years during its stay in the United Kingdom. Arguably the most significant Ferrari in the marque’s history, it was a crowd favorite and an opportunity to recreate something extraordinary - Luigi Chinetti Jr., who recalls as a child witnessing #0008M finish victorious at the 1949 24 Hours of Le Mans at the hands of his very own father, was reunited with the car.

The Ferrari F40 displayed by DK Engineering was nothing short of a time warp car - dry stored and very rarely seen in the public eye, this 1,627 km remarkable example of Ferrari’s most iconic supercar presents a fascinating opportunity for any collection. Accompanied by its Ferrari red book Classiche certification, the car remains in the USA with taxes paid.

Continuing the ‘F’ theme, the Ferrari F50 caught the attention of the crowd after recently being overhauled by DK Engineering following the purchase and transport from South Africa, where the car was delivered new and had spent all its life. With just 5,608 kilometers on the clock, this example presents another time warp opportunity and also remains in the USA alongside the F40, also with USA taxes paid. Entered into the judged section and testament to our work on the car, it received the coveted ‘Platinum Award’, winning its class against stiff competition.

Concluding the event, the overall winners were announced with some impressive metal taking the honors. The 1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica #0483 won the award for Overall Outstanding Ferrari Granturismo, while the 1953 Ferrari 250 MM Berlinetta Pinin Farina #0258 was selected as the Overall Outstanding Ferrari Competition car, and finally the 1971 Ferrari 512 M #1020 was chosen as the Overall Outstanding Ferrari with a "Red Book."

The following day both the F40 & F50 were displayed at Mar-a-Lago where they both received class winning awards, including most exotic Supercar. Both cars now remain in Connecticut and are available to view and are both for sale.

Congratulations goes to all who were victorious at this year’s event. The DK team are already busy planning the busy event season ahead all over the world.
