DK Engineering Restored Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso Scoops the ‘Most Elegant’ Award at Salon Privé

To finish off the month of August, we gathered at the picturesque lawns of Blenheim Palace, once home to Winston Churchill, for the iconic Salon Privé. During the vast four-day event, the Salon Privé Concours occurred, where DK Engineering proudly entered a Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso. We also provided the eminent Porsche 911 3.0 RSR for display within the show-stealing ‘Yellow Collection’.

Now in its 18th year, the event has continued to gain momentum and with some very impressive metal on display, competition was to an exceptional standard as ever. Entered within the ‘Ferrari Classiche’ class was a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso by Scaglietti, one of just 17 examples to leave the factory in Nero, the colour it still wears today. DK performed a 26th month, 2,970 Hour bare metal restoration of this stunning example of "La Dolce Vita". The work commenced in 2017 and included the fitting of a period option Vaumol 3015 green leather interior. This well documented and comprehensive restoration culminated in early 2020, and was delivered to its current keeper promptly after.

Clearly stealing the attention of the judges and concours peers, it was announced that the Lusso had won ‘Most Elegant’, a prestigious award that both the owner and DK are equally proud to have received.

Elsewhere in the event, on the Duke of Marlborough’s own cricket square, was ‘The Yellow Collection’, a special showcase of 12 hand-curated cars, all in the aforementioned hue of yellow. We are honored to have shown our 1974 Porsche 911 3.0 RSR, a 4-time Le Mans entrant with extensive period history, as part of this collection, parading on the Friday which certainly transformed the Palace into even more of a spectacle than usual.
