Perhaps the most picturesque Concours on the calendar; Villa d’Este, on the shores of Lake Como, once again hosted a gathering of the world’s finest cars, with a variety of classes in expertly sourced and judged entrants.
This year saw eight classes, with a century’s worth of history represented, it is no wonder that Villa d’Este is globally recognised as one of the most prestigious automotive events.
Given the opportunity to catch up with friends and clients both old and new, DK team members were on the ground throughout the weekend. Additionally, we were of course supporting multiple entrants across the classes. Firstly, a car we handled the sale of to its current custodian Jaguar E-type Lightweight ’86 PJ’. The fourth of the twelve original lightweights, it was supplied new to Tommy Atkins in 1963. Resplendent in its original light green metallic and retaining its original interior to date, '86 PJ' was the recipient of the Schedoni Best Preserved Interior award. Additional support was provided on behalf of the owner of the Bugatti Type 57, with DK handling the pre-concours preparation, logistics as well as support on the day. The final car and one of the highlights of the show for many, the one-of-one, right-hand-drive, Mercedes Benz CLK GTR Roadster which DK sold to its current custodian in 2020 and carried out a major service including fuel cells at the time.
The highest honour was awarded to the ex-Scuderia Ferrari Alfa Romeo P3, with a BMW 507 Roadster, taking home not only the coveted Coppa d'Oro Villa d'Este, voted for by public referendum, but also the award for 'Most Iconic Design'.
Once again, Villa d’Este hosted a fabulous event, sponsored by BMW and supported by a number of great collectors, many of whom we are proud to call friends and clients.
