#59 - DK Engineering Returns to Le Mans in 2025

This weekend, in partnership with McLaren and United Autosports, DK Engineering returns to Le Mans for the 24hrs. Our very own James Cottingham completes the trio that will helm the #59 720S LMGT3 Evo on the thirtieth anniversary of McLaren’s outright win in the #59 F1 GTR.

Such is the magnitude of the event, the first few days in Le Mans consist of media, press and parade duties for all teams and drivers before on-track action commences mid-week. Following free practice, yesterday (11.06) afternoon's qualifying session saw the #59 of Cottingham, Saucy and Baud finish 8th and therefore secure advancement into the ‘hyperpole’ session, which takes place this evening. An extremely evocative session, hyperpole sees the top performers from each of the three classes determine their grid positions as dusk descends over Circuit de la Sarthe.

Once again, the GT class will comprise of cars built to FIA GT3 specification. To comply, manufacturers must produce 2,500 road-going variants of their chosen model. Furthermore, competing teams must include at least one bronze driver and one bronze or silver driver: Cottingham (bronze), Saucy (gold), Baud (silver).

Nine major manufacturers will be represented in the GT class: McLaren, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG, Corvette, Porsche, and BMW. Competition is set to be as fierce as ever, with seventy-two of world’s finest sportscar drivers completing the twenty-four-car strong LMGT3 ensemble.

As you’ll see, the liveries of the sister McLarens slightly differ, as the #59 will wear the colours in support of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and their dedicated, worthwhile efforts to #DefeatMeningitis.

‘If achieved, the Global Road Map to Defeat Meningitis by 2030 could save the lives of up to 200,000 people each year and eliminate bacterial meningitis epidemics.’ – meningitis.org

If you would like to show your support from home, the race is available to stream in its entirety, along with every preceding session, via WEC.TV. Likewise, if you’re attending the race over the weekend, be sure to look out for the #59 and shoutout DK (@dkengineering) on social media!
