Celebrating 60 Years of Gordon Murray at the Festival of Speed

Over the hottest weekend of the year so far, hundreds of thousands of eager motorsport fans filled the grounds of an estate in West Sussex, hopeful of catching a glimpse of machinery they would otherwise never see, let alone in motion. The 32nd Goodwood Festival of Speed did anything but disappoint.

Since 1997, the Festival of Speed has celebrated both individuals and marques, recognising their achievements with an annual ‘central display’ situated on the front lawn of Goodwood House. This year, Goodwood gathered to honour the astonishing sixty-year career of designer Gordon Murray, founder of Gordon Murray Automotive. As the designer of numerous championship-winning Brabham and McLaren Formula One cars, as well as road cars such as the McLaren F1 and GMA T.50, Murray’s career was celebrated with a remarkable assembly of cars and drivers.

As custodians of T.50 chassis #031, DK Engineering have formed a close relationship with Gordon Murray Automotive, and we were grateful for their hospitality over the weekend. Goodwood also duly recognised the 75th anniversary of the Formula One World Championship by assembling the largest gathering of Grand Prix cars in its history, giving onlookers the chance to witness both former and current drivers united with a plethora of stunning machinery.

A visit to Goodwood is always a privilege, and this weekend proved once again just how popular the Festival of Speed has become. Finally, we extend our thanks to Lanzante for their hospitality and congratulations on the exciting launch of the 95-59 supercar.
