On the cusp of celebrating their 90th anniversary, the Bentley Drivers’ Club continues to be a cornerstone of historic Bentley motoring, preservation, and competition, a role it has upheld since its founding in 1936. This week, their annual meeting at Silverstone brought together an extraordinary lineup of historic competition cars, ranging from pre-war to 1960s GT, all competing on the National Circuit.
Among the highlights of the weekend was the return of DK Engineering’s master technician, Adrian King, to the cockpit of the Bristol-powered AC Ace. Following a triumphant victory at the same event in 2023, it seemed fitting to reacquaint Adrian with the Ace. Adrian brought the car home in a brilliant second place overall, missing out on the top spot by a mere seven-tenths of a second. Not only did he secure first in class, but he also posted the fastest lap time of the race in the process, congratulations, Adrian!
Meanwhile, DK Engineering founder and director David Cottingham, was once again at the wheel of the beloved Ferrari 500 TRC. Competing in the multi-class race for 50s sports and pre-1962 GT cars (FISCAR), David delivered a commendable performance to finish 12th overall.
The weekend served yet another reminder of DK Engineering’s enduring passion for historic motor racing and the skill involved with preparing and piloting such incredible competition cars.
