Yesterday, on the globally revered Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance, DK Engineering were proud to have unveiled yet another hugely significant 1950s sports Ferrari; the ex-Eddie Hall 1951 Ferrari 340 America Touring Barchetta (#0120/A), following a fastidious two-year restoration which saw the car returned to its original 1951 Le Mans 24h specification.
In 1951, British driver Eddie Hall, famed for completing the 24 Hours of Le Mans solo the previous year, ordered a 340 America just weeks before Le Mans. Ferrari obliged, producing what evolved to be a uniquely configured example that Hall would further adapt himself before lining up at Le Mans alongside three sister 340 Americas.
When #0120/A arrived at DK Engineering in summer 2023, it was partially restored to a later U.S. specification. Over the past two years, our team has meticulously returned it to its most evocative form, 1951 Le Mans ‘start-line’ specification by way of extensive research and a monumental effort.
The debut on the Pebble Tour marks the completion of the restoration and showcases the calibre of restorative work DK Engineering is able to perform. Late Saturday morning (16th August), our totally restored Ferrari 340 America and our totally restored Ferrari F50 will be available to view at Casa DK - offering a unique opportunity to see our award-winning craftsmanship up close and to speak directly with workshop business manager, Phil Redpath, and master technician, David Braund, about sympathetic, comprehensive, and complete restoration projects.
Finally, we are delighted to share that the 1951 Ferrari 340 America will also be displayed on the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Lawn this Sunday.
