Ferrari 250 LM & 500 TRC compete at the Silverstone Classic. DK Engineering's 250 LM, chassis number 6045, received a warm welcome to the historic racing scene at this years Silverstone Classic. This was the first public appearance for the car since it's total restoration. Many comments were made regarding the colour of the car and original specification of the car, one person going so far as to say, “its so refreshing to see an LM presented in the way they were – 6045 looks every bit as good as it did in its day!”. The rebuild having been originally planned for the Goodwood revival meeting was running much ahead of schedule and thus allowed for the car to be completed in time the historic Silverstone event. Jeremy and James Cottingham shared the car in the last race on the Saturday, the Italian Historic Car Cup. Look out for the LM at Goodwood revival! DK Engineering also brought the yellow 500 TRC to the event in the hope of being granted entry into the Stirling Moss Trophy for 60s Sports Cars. The car was granted entry early on Sunday morning for the Sunday afternoon race. At the hands of James and David Cottingham the car ran well throughout the hour long race and would have taken a class win had there not been a miscommunication between the stewards and David just after the driver change.
Both cars ran extremely well and their successes on the back of no testing for the event served as an excellent showcase of the sterling work and commitment of the technicians at DK Engineering.
