Over the course of two years, DK Engineering has totally restored yet another hugely significant 1950s sports Ferrari, the ex-Eddie Hall 1951 340 America Touring Barchetta (#0120/A).
Famed for completing the 24 Hours of Le Mans solo, Eddie Hall was a remarkable individual with a serious penchant for endurance racing and a bug for the challenge that it provided. In 1951, after receiving word of Ferrari’s victory in the 1951 Mille Miglia, Hall enquired about a 340 America for himself, with the condition that it be delivered in time for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, merely a month later.
Completed with unique attributes from factory and an additional number of intriguing alterations applied by Hall himself, #0120/A lined up at Le Mans in June of 1951 alongside three other sister 340 Americas.
Having arrived in the summer of 2023, partially restored to a specification reminiscent of the car’s time in the USA, DK Engineering has painstakingly restored and returned #0120/A to its most evocative form; 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans ‘start-line’ specification. Reminiscent of the car’s origin, the team has demonstrated a monumental effort to ensure the restoration was completed in time for the official unveiling at Pebble Beach’s globally renowned Concours d’Elegance.
